GETTING AROUND
Easy to move, once you know how.
Trains
Trains link Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, Fes and Marrakesh, and the Al Boraq high-speed line runs between Tangier and Casablanca.
Long-distance buses
Intercity buses reach most cities and towns that the railway doesn't.
Petits and grands taxis
Small taxis stay within a city; larger shared taxis run between towns. Agree on the meter or a fare first.
In the city
Rabat and Casablanca have tram networks, and medinas are best explored on foot.

Small things that help.
Visiting mosques
Most mosques are open only to Muslims. The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca welcomes visitors on guided tours.
Dress
Covering shoulders and knees is appreciated, especially in medinas, smaller towns and religious places.
Souks
In souks, prices are often open to friendly negotiation. Take your time, and mint tea is often part of it.
Ramadan
During Ramadan, daily rhythms shift: many places open later, and evenings are lively after sunset.
Tipping
Small tips are common for good service in cafés and restaurants, and for guides and drivers.
