GETTING AROUND
Easy to move, once you know how.
Fly between cities
Distances are huge. Domestic flights link the state capitals and are the usual way to cross the country.
Trains and coaches
Intercity trains run on some routes, such as Sydney to Melbourne or Brisbane, and coaches reach many regional towns.
City transit
The big cities have trains and buses, and some also trams and ferries, each with its own way to pay.
Road trips
Many people rent a car or campervan for the coast and the outback. Towns can be far apart, so plan fuel and rest stops.

Beaches
On patrolled beaches, swim between the red and yellow flags, and check local conditions before you go in.
Strong sun
